Qualitel Expands North American Manufacturing Footprint with Mexicali Acquisition
Qualitel is proud to announce the acquisition of the former Celestica manufacturing operation in Mexicali, Mexico, marking a significant expansion of Qualitel’s North American manufacturing capabilities.
The acquisition strengthens Qualitel’s ability to support customers with high-reliability, mission-critical manufacturing while providing a competitive nearshore manufacturing solution. Located approximately two hours from San Diego and Palm Springs, the Mexicali operation combines the cost and capacity advantages of Mexico with close proximity to U.S.-based engineering, supply chain, and program management resources.
The operation consists of two manufacturing buildings totaling more than 110,000 square feet and employs 240 skilled manufacturing professionals. Operating under Mexico’s IMMEX program, the facility provides an established manufacturing platform for efficiently supporting cross-border production and supply-chain requirements.
With more than 30 years of operating history, the Mexicali operation is particularly focused on supporting the demanding requirements of the aerospace and defense industries, with extensive manufacturing expertise in:
- Cable harness assemblies
- CNC machining
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Electromechanical assembly
- Wire Wrapping
- Complex Power Chassis
The facility is structured to support high-reliability aerospace and defense programs and maintains the quality systems, certifications, and regulatory approvals required for these demanding markets, including ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP, ITAR-compliance, and BIS/EAR Licenses.
These capabilities, combined with the facility’s IMMEX operating structure, enable Qualitel to support controlled aerospace and defense programs while providing customers with a competitive, secure, and highly capable North American manufacturing solution for complex and mission-critical products.
For Qualitel customers, the acquisition provides immediate benefits through expanded capacity, greater manufacturing flexibility, and a highly competitive nearshore option for labor-intensive assemblies and complex electromechanical products. Significant available capacity at the Mexicali operation also provides a platform for future customer growth and new program introductions.
Combined with Qualitel’s headquarters and advanced electronics manufacturing operations in Everett, Washington, the Mexicali facility creates a powerful cross-border manufacturing platform. Qualitel can now provide customers with an integrated manufacturing strategy spanning prototype and new product introduction through higher-volume production, while maintaining the quality, responsiveness, traceability, security, and engineering support required by aerospace and defense customers.
Most importantly, the acquisition brings together two experienced manufacturing teams with a shared commitment to quality, operational excellence, responsiveness, and long-term customer partnerships.
We are excited to welcome the Mexicali team to the Qualitel family and look forward to building an even stronger North American manufacturing organization for our customers, employees, and partners.
